Kristina Tebo, MD
Dr. Kristina Tebo is a pediatrician who strives to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to underserved children worldwide. She accomplishes this through her work in Pediatric Global Health and as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UTHealth’s McGovern Medical School.
While pursuing her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Tebo completed the Global Health Track and participated in several conferences focused on HIV care. She then completed her Pediatric residency training at Northwestern University, where she spent several months rotating at hospitals in West Africa and conducted a senior research project evaluating clinical outcomes of premature infants in the region.
Dr. Tebo has volunteered in short-term roles in Trinidad & Tobago, South Africa, Uganda, and Lesotho and then focused her professional efforts in Togo, West Africa where she served as a pediatrician for nearly 3 years at the Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital (KKMCH).
After returning to the United States, Dr. Tebo was a Pediatric Hospitalist at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (Northwestern University). In 2021, she joined McGovern Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with the goal of advancing global health education and practice within the Department of Pediatrics. Since that time, she has also become the Assistant Vice President of Global Health Initiatives for UTHealth. Her clinical interests include severe malaria, pediatric oncology in low resource settings, and malnutrition.
Dr. Tebo enjoys hiking, cooking, and keeping up her language skills by watching French Netflix shows. She is also a proud dog mom to her terrier, Cashew, and can frequently be found at the local dog parks.
